My Life By Hanna Clara Minshull
My Life
My name is Hanna Clara Minshull and I will be 13 in a few days time. I have attended many schools including Hagaskóli. Now I will tell you about my life.
My parents (Hrefna Dís Minshull and Simon Peter Minshull) lived in Russia but my mum came here to Iceland to have me. My dad came shortly after but unfortunately missed my birth. I was born on the 13th of November, the year 1991.
My parents worked for the British Embassy and their post in Russia was done so they moved to my dad’s home in England. We lived there for a few years and while we lived there my little sister Emma Dís Minshull came along. Close to the house was a small shop, the only thing I remember about the area, and It was painted green so we (me and Emma) called it the Green shop. We used to go there and get ice lollies to eat on hot, summer days.
Unfortunately the house was getting to small and old for us to be able to live in so we decided to move. Me and Emma lived with Grandma and Grandad (Granjack as I called him) until we moved in.
When mum and dad had sorted things out, we moved in and we loved the house, the neighbourhood and the small woods on the other side of the road. We called it Squirrel Woods. I started school when I was four and a half years old and I quite enjoyed it! I felt so grown up.
When I was about six or seven I moved to Barbados, an island in the Caribbean. There I went to St.Winifreds. I will never forget it. It was a great school and there I met for example Laura, Anya and Cathy. I remember Laura and Cathy but not Anya because when I had lived there for about a year and a half she moved to America. She came for short visits but never stayed for long. I miss Laura and have only seen her once in two years. She was and is (by e-mail!) still my best friend. I will never forget her. We lived in Barbados for about three and a quarter years.
After Barbados we moved to England again. You see, my dad works at the British Embassy and so we do a lot of moving around. We lived in England for about nine or ten months. There I went back to my old school, Leverstock Green School. We then moved to Iceland.
There we lived in Víðihlíð 30, 105 Reykjavík. Me and Emma went to Hlíðaskóli. Hlíðaskóli was great but we soon had to move again because the house owner had changed her mind about renting the house out, so we only attended Hlíðaskóli for about six weeks, until the school year ended.
We then moved to Skildinganes 17 in Skeríafjörður where we live now! At first I attended Melaskóli but after one whole school year I had finished the school! So, I then went to Hagaskóli where I am now, writing this, well, life story. Here are some current events:
We are hoping the teachers strike will not restart (it is on hold) because it has already lasted six weeks, I am finally making friends and well, I think that is all! I hope you have enjoyed reading this as I have writing it!
Yours,
Hanna Clara Minshull.
P.S. - I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes. It has been over a year since I lived in England, I am sadly forgetting my English.
